It shoots in 4:3 & 16:9 formats. The pd10x records to sd video and uses readily available and low cost minidv tapes.

The firewire interface works 100% and has been tested by us to transfer video to the pc. The lens is free of any scratches or marks and all functions of the camera have been tested. Everything works & there are no breaks or cracks on the camera. We have tested every function and connector on the camera for about 3 hours just before listing and it ran all tests perfectly. Overall the camera has some small marks and scratches mostly on the bottom but other than that it is in good condition. The battery is brand new aftermarket compatible battery that is compatible with the sony infolithium system. There is an inbuilt stereo microphone and the camera supports a 12x optical zoom. You can either run the camera in auto mode or manual mode locking in your gain, shutter, arpeture, white balance etc. It even has a touch screen for fine adjustments. This model accepts sony memory stick for taking 1 megapixel photos up to 1152 x 864 resolution.

You can view your images either thru the high res b&w viewfinder (moves up and down and extends out approx 3 cm) or the 3.50 inch colour screen. The camera has an inbuilt speaker for playback.

We also include a sony power supply & new battery & the original sony user manual. The dsr-pdx10 can stream video and audio via its usb port. In camera mode, video and audio are captured and converted to motion jpeg signals in real-time, and subsequently streamed. Similarly in the vcr mode, the playback signal is converted to motion jpeg and streamed through the usb port. There is of course also the industry standard ilink firewire interface for transferring video & audio to your pc in realtime.

Overall this camera runs and operates excellent, it is a pleasure to use and everything is quick and easy from the super fast zoom and autofocus to the overall operation of the camera in normal use and jumping thru menu changes and operating modes. Operation - 53 x 10h. Drum run - 4 x 10h.

Tape run - 10 x 10h. Threading - 80 x 10. This camera has hardly been used, realistically it has recorded and played back about 100 hours, that truly is very little for this camera. Operation 53 x 10h (total number of hours the camera has been powered on, whether recording, playback or just idling). Drum run 4 x 10h (drums spin on the tape when the tape is inserted into the cam and powered up and recording - sony recommend replacing drums after 1000-1500 hours). Tape run 10 x 10h (actual recording and playback hours). The dsr-pdx10 employs the super steadyshot system in which the horizontal and vertical movements during camera work are detected independently by the sensors. The active lens adjusts and optically compensates for unsteadiness, while maintaining image quality. Switchable 4:3 and 16:9 recording modes. The dsr-pdx10 captures images in both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. This function is easily selected from the menu. Precision 16:9 technology and wider angle of view in 16:9 mode.

The dsr-pdx10 incorporates the infolithium ‘m series’ battery system. An ic chip is included in the battery and transmits the remaining capacity of the battery, accurate to the minute, to the camcorder. Still-picture recording (progressive shutter system). The dsr-pdx10 incorporates a digital-still camera function used in combination with the memory stick feature. Thanks to the mega pixel ccds, still pictures with mega pixel quality can be recorded to the memory stick.

The image size can be 640 x 480 (vga) or 1152 x 864, and picture quality can be selected from superfine, fine or standard modes. Up to 1,978 images at 640 x 480 size, or up to 608 images at 1152 x 864 size can be recorded on an optional 128 mb type memory stick in standard mode. Still images can also be recorded onto dvcam/dv tape when in the tape photo mode. Moving pictures and audio can be recorded on the memory stick in mpeg-1 format. Either the camera output or tape playback pictures can be converted to mpeg-1 format and recorded to the memory stick. Digital program editing allows auto assembly-like editing without an edit controller. Memory mix: images stored on a memory stick can be combined with the camera images and recorded to the camcorder tape. Audio dubbing (only for dvcam recorded tape).
